Efinix® FPGAs

Compared to most other vendors, Efinix® is a relatively recent player in the FPGA field providing high-tech FPGA solutions focused on delivering low power, high performance, and great value for production use.

The Efinix® architecture is built on Quantum® fabric, which gives performance and area advantages over traditional FPGAs. At its core is the XLR cell, a flexible block that can function as both logic and routing.
The Efinix Efinity® free software takes advantage of this architecture to implement efficiently the user’s logic.

Efinix offers three attractive families :

  • Trion® FPGAs : the simplest, general purposed FPGA for fast-growing market, 4k to 120k Logic Elements, featuring DDR3/LPDDR2/3, Hard MIPI CSI-2, LVDS and more.
  • Topaz® FPGAs : mid-range efficient architecture, 50k to 325k Logic Elements, offering widely adopted features including 12.5G transceivers, PCIe Gen3, MIPI, LPDDR4, and LVDS, as well as seamless migration to Titanium Series.
  • Titanium® FPGAs : the highest performance family for complex designs, 35k to 1M+ Logic Elements, featuring hard RISC-V SoC, LPDDR4/4x, 2.5G MIPI D-PHY, PCIe Gen4x8, and 25.8Gbps Transceivers.

ALSE

We received demands about the availability of some of our IPs on Efinix FPGAs, so we decided in 2024 to evaluate the effort to port our challenging and popular Aurora IPs to Efinix FPGAs and especially the High Performance Titanium with its 25.8 G transceivers.

We were favorably impressed by the Titanium Ti375 N1156 Development Kit, by the Efinity development tools, and also by the quality of the Technical Support we received from Efinix (using transceivers in our IPs represents a significant technical challenge).

So we successfully ported our Aurora 8B/10B IP, followed right after by our Aurora 64B/66B IP, and we could easily port any of our other IPs to Efinix FPGAs, especially those using transceivers (10G Ethernet GEDEK, JESD204B, 1G Ethernet GEDEK etc).

And indeed we feel at ease to develop any kind of project on these families.
